New Stratos was a privately funded project to create a modern successor to the Lancia Stratos. Initiated by German entrepreneur Michael Stoschek (with his son Maximilian) and executed by Pininfarina, the one-off New Stratos was completed in 2010 on a shortened Ferrari 430 Scuderia platform with a 4.3-liter V8 and carbon-fiber body. The car undertook testing at Balocco and appeared in events including Rally Isla Mallorca as a zero car in 2011, while development news and technical notes were published by New Stratos GbR. After Ferrari objected to wider use of its platform, low-volume production was deferred.
In 2018 Stoschek’s New Stratos GbR licensed Manifattura Automobili Torino (M.A.T.) in Italy to build a limited series of up to 25 New Stratos coupes for customer donors, retaining the compact wheelbase, lightweight carbon construction and naturally aspirated V8/manual-gearbox formula. M.A.T. presented customer cars and described tailor-made builds; independent outlets reported initial examples under construction and delivery. The project remained closely linked to the Stoschek commission, with manufacturing and sales handled by M.A.T. under license rather than by a standalone automaker.
