Ferbedo Tom was a German automobile manufacturer that operated briefly from 1923 to 1925. Founded by Ferdinand Benthauser in Nuremberg-Doos, the company initially specialized in producing children's scooters and similar vehicles.
In an effort to expand its product line, Ferbedo Tom developed a unique four-wheeled vehicle that combined elements of both motorcycles and cars. This innovative design allowed for three passengers to sit in tandem, akin to a motorcycle configuration, while steering was managed through a conventional steering wheel. The vehicle was powered by a 1.9 PS Breuer engine, which contributed to its distinctive hybrid nature.
The model produced by Ferbedo Tom was known simply as the Tom. However, the company ceased operations in 1925, marking the end of its foray into the automotive market. Despite its short existence, Ferbedo Tom's attempt to bridge the gap between motorcycles and cars reflected the evolving landscape of early 20th-century transportation.
