Excelsior was a German automobile manufacturer that operated from 1910 to 1922. The company, officially known as Excelsior-Werk für Feinmechanik GmbH, was based in Cologne-Nippes. It focused on producing assembled cars that catered to the low to medium price segment of the market.
The vehicles offered by Excelsior included a range of engine options, starting with a modest 3/8 PS two-cylinder engine, as well as four-cylinder models with outputs of 6/14 PS and 8/18 PS. Despite the variety in their offerings, the brand's sales remained largely localized, with most of its market confined to the immediate area surrounding its production facilities.
Excelsior's production ceased in 1922, marking the end of its brief presence in the automotive industry. The company’s focus on affordable vehicles reflected the economic conditions of the time, but it ultimately struggled to achieve broader market penetration.
