Paul Baer Motorenfabrik GmbH was established in 1908 in Berlin, Germany, primarily to manufacture engines for various automotive manufacturers. The company specialized in producing engines that were supplied to other car makers, gaining a foothold in the automotive industry through its engine production.

Following World War I, the company sought to expand its operations by entering the complete automobile manufacturing sector. Between 1921 and 1924, Paul Baer Motorenfabrik attempted to produce its own vehicles, utilizing a 770cc 2-cylinder 2-stroke engine in their designs. However, the venture was not successful, and only a limited number of vehicles were produced before the company ceased operations.
