Argus was a German automobile manufacturer active from 1902 to 1906, founded by Paul Jeannin in Berlin-Reinickendorf. Initially, Jeannin imported Panhard vehicles from France, but he soon began producing his own cars. The first models, introduced in 1902, utilized Panhard engines and components. By 1903, Argus transitioned to manufacturing its own engines, offering a range of power outputs with 2-cylinder and 4-cylinder configurations, including a 2380cc 12PS engine, a 4960cc 20PS engine, and a 9260cc 40PS engine.

Despite its small-scale production, Argus cars were noted for their quality. Some models were marketed in England under the name Beaufort. In 1906, Paul Jeannin departed from Argus to establish a new company, Sun Motoren-Gesellschaft Jeannin & Co. KG, with his brother Emil, which produced SUN cars for a brief period. Following Jeannin's departure, Argus shifted its focus to marine and aero engines, only to return to the automotive sector in 1929 when it manufactured straight-8 engines for the Horch brand.
