Goujon was a French automobile manufacturer active from 1896 to 1901, based in Neuilly-sur-Seine. The company was founded by E. Goujon and produced vehicles that were initially inspired by the designs of Benz. The first model featured a 3.5 horsepower horizontal single-cylinder engine, which was notable for its hot tube ignition system. This early vehicle also included three forward speeds and utilized a belt drive mechanism.
Over the course of its production, Goujon's vehicles underwent minimal changes. By the time of its final appearance at the 1901 Paris Salon, the car had been updated to include four speeds and a chain drive system that connected to the countershaft and rear wheels. The output of the engine had increased to 5 horsepower at 300 rpm. Despite these advancements, the company faced criticism for its design choices, particularly for adhering to a rear-engine layout at a time when other manufacturers were moving towards different configurations.
