Société des Automobiles Charton was a French automobile manufacturer that operated briefly between 1905 and 1906. The company was based in Argenteuil, located in the Seine-et-Oise department of France.
Charton produced a range of vehicles, including a single-cylinder 9 horsepower two-seater, which featured a belt drive system. In addition to this model, the company offered a 12 horsepower two-cylinder vehicle and a selection of four-cylinder models that ranged from 16/20 to 40/50 horsepower. The designs of these vehicles were largely conventional for the time, with the largest model utilizing a chain drive, while the others, apart from the 9 horsepower model, employed shaft drive systems.
In addition to passenger vehicles, Société des Automobiles Charton also advertised chassis for commercial vehicles, indicating a broader interest in the automotive market beyond personal transportation. However, the company ceased operations shortly after its inception, leaving behind a limited legacy in the early automotive industry.
