Société Audax Ingénierie was a French automotive manufacturer based in Gallargues-le-Montueux. The company gained attention with the launch of its open two-seater roadster at the 1997 Geneva Motor Show. Initially, Audax planned to equip the vehicle with a tuned Peugeot V6 engine; however, due to high costs, it ultimately opted for a BMW 4.4-liter V8 engine paired with a six-speed gearbox.
The roadster featured a multi-tubular chassis, which was enveloped in a body designed by Olivier Moret-Bailly. While the design was noted for being low-slung, it received criticism for its aesthetics. Audax envisioned a variety of coachbuilt bodywork designs to accompany the roadster. A notable innovation in the vehicle was its 'mono-interactive' suspension system, which utilized a single coil spring and damper for each axle, arranged in a double-triangulated configuration.
