Automobiles Astatic was a French automobile manufacturer active between 1922 and 1923, based in St Ouen, Seine. The company gained attention at the 1922 Paris Salon, where its cyclecar model was noted for its innovative design, although it was also remarked that the vehicle exhibited signs of rushed development.
The Astatic featured an 894cc S.CA.P. engine paired with a conventional 3-speed gearbox. However, its most distinctive characteristic was its unique suspension system. Instead of traditional axles, each wheel was independently sprung using a bell crank arm and a large horizontal coil spring housed within a cylinder. This design allowed for separate steering rods for each front wheel, while the rear differential casing was mounted directly to the chassis, with individual drive shafts extending to each rear wheel.
Despite its brief production run, Automobiles Astatic's engineering approach reflected the experimental spirit of early 20th-century automotive design.
