Qiantu

Qiantu was a Chinese electric-car marque of Qiantu Motor, the Suzhou-based vehicle manufacturer established in 2015 under Beijing Great Wall Huaguan Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. and led by Lu Qun. The brand was created for high-performance battery-electric cars and became one of the earliest Chinese startups to focus on an electric sports car rather than a mass-market sedan or crossover. Its public debut came with the Qiantu K50, first shown in pre-production form in 2015 and launched for the Chinese market in 2018.

The K50 remained the marque’s defining model: a two-seat electric sports coupé with an aluminum spaceframe and carbon-fibre body, positioned as a premium performance EV. Qiantu later displayed related or follow-on vehicles including the K50 roadster, K20 compact sports hatchback, and K25 concept, but the marque never developed into a large-volume producer. Contemporary reporting showed production and sales remained limited, and the K50 disappeared from the market by 2020. Qiantu nevertheless held a notable place in Chinese automotive history as an early attempt to establish a domestic electric sports-car brand.
