Dongfanghong [2]

1991-1994

Brand Data

Dongfanghong, meaning "The East is Red," was a brand associated with the First Tractor Works Auto Sub-Works, located in Luoyang City, Henan Province, China. The parent tractor factory was established in the early 1950s with substantial assistance from Soviet engineers, and it began producing Caterpillar-type tractors under the Dongfanghong name from that period onward.

In 1965 a smaller sub-factory within the works began building heavy trucks, producing military vehicles based on Berliet designs.

The Dongfanghong name later extended to passenger cars. In 1991 two models were introduced: a compact 797cc five-seat saloon and estate car built on the Haerbin WJ 1010 chassis, known as the Dongfanghong LT 6390 in saloon form and the Dongfanghong LT 5010JF as an estate variant. Alongside these, a larger medium-sized saloon was produced under the name Yituo.
