Forster Motor Car & Manufacturing Co. Ltd was established in Montreal, Canada, in 1920. The company was founded by Captain M.L. Fitzgerald, who designed a large automobile powered by a six-cylinder Herschell-Spillman engine. The vehicle featured a radiator design reminiscent of Rolls-Royce models and was offered in two body styles: a tourer and a coupé known as the Princess Pauline.
The primary market for Forster's vehicles was intended to be the United Kingdom rather than Canada. Fitzgerald had reportedly made arrangements with a London-based firm, Southgate Ltd of Regent Street, to supply 10,000 units over a decade. Despite acquiring a factory in Montreal, there is little evidence that a prototype of the car was ever constructed, as the only available illustrations were artist's impressions. The company ultimately did not achieve significant production or market presence.
