Brand Data

Company Name: Canadian Standard Auto & Tractor Co.

Place: Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

Country: Canada

Canadian Standard Auto & Tractor Co. was established in November 1912 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, by American entrepreneur A.R. Walton, with the assistance of local businessmen. The initiative aimed to foster an automotive industry in the small prairie city, reflecting the aspirations of the community to develop local manufacturing capabilities.

Walton relocated machinery from Eon Wayne, Indiana, where he had previously been involved in truck production. He intended to produce a four-cylinder tourer, which was projected to be sold for approximately CDN $2,000. In 1913, a few prototypes of the vehicle were developed, showcasing the company's ambitions in the automotive sector.

However, the project faced challenges as local support dwindled, leading to the eventual cessation of operations. By the end of 1913, there were no further developments or production from Canadian Standard Auto & Tractor Co., and the company faded from the automotive landscape. Notably, there was no connection in design or personnel with the Moosejaw Standard, a vehicle that was produced in the same city four years later.
