Bourassa was a Canadian automobile manufacturer founded by Henri-F. Émile Bourassa in Montreal, Quebec, in 1899. Coming from a family of skilled cabinet makers, Bourassa developed an early interest in mechanics. His connection to the automotive world was further influenced by his friendship with Louis Chevrolet, who lived with him for a period after arriving in Canada.
Over the course of 26 years, Bourassa produced a variety of custom-built automobiles, ranging from small runabouts to larger vehicles, including a heavy seven-passenger tourer. In 1914, he also designed two cars for the Leixieux Carriage Company. His final creation, the Bourassa Six, featured a side-valve engine and a transmission of his own design, mounted on a Rickenbacker chassis. Although completed in 1926, the Bourassa Six never entered production due to a lack of interest from manufacturers, leading to its eventual demolition six years later.
