Dodge in Brazil operated from 1969 to 1982, initially under the name Chrysler do Brasil S.A. and later as Chrysler Motors do Brasil. The company was based in São Bernardo do Campo and was part of the broader Chrysler Corporation's international operations.
During its existence, the Brazilian division produced several models, including the Hillman Avenger, which was marketed as the Dodge Polara. The Polara was initially equipped with a 1500cc engine, later upgraded to an 1800cc variant. In addition to smaller models, the company also manufactured larger American designs, notably the Dodge Dart and the Dodge Charger. The Charger, introduced in 1976, featured a powerful 5.2-liter V8 engine that produced 215 horsepower and was available with an automatic transmission.
Chrysler's financial difficulties in the early 1980s led to a takeover by Volkswagen, which resulted in the cessation of Dodge production in Brazil by 1982. The brand's operations in the country were thus short-lived but marked by a mix of local adaptations and American automotive designs.
