ECAR was a Wallonia-based EV start-up founded in 2015 by Xavier Van der Stappen with Thierry Deflandre. It developed the E-Car 333, a lightweight urban three-wheeler whose name signified three wheels, three seats and a targeted 300 km range; prototypes were shown at Brussels in 2015 and again in 2017. The project emphasized local supply chains and bio-based materials (reused steel for the chassis and flax-laminate body panels). At the 2017 Brussels Motor Show ECAR previewed planned variants—E333a (urban three-seater), E332r (roadster), and E311u (utility)—with indicative prices from about €20,000 and stated ambitions to scale production with an industrial partner, though evidence of series manufacture has not emerged.
