Anderson is an Australian automotive brand that originated from W. Anderson & Sons Pty Ltd, a foundry and engineering works established in 1870 in Richmond, Victoria. Initially focused on manufacturing machinery for various industries and mines, the company also produced large winding pulleys for Melbourne's cable tram system.
In 1906, W. Anderson & Sons ventured into the automotive sector by creating a 16-horsepower car, primarily for its own use. This move was intended to generate publicity and attract further orders for their automotive products. However, despite the initial efforts, the company did not secure additional orders for vehicles. W. Anderson & Sons continued its operations in engineering and manufacturing and remained active until the 1980s.
