Dodge's operations in Argentina began in 1968 when ChryslerFevreArgentina SA established a manufacturing facility in Buenos Aires. This venture focused on producing local variations of the Valiant and Lancer models, which were adapted for the Argentine market. Alongside these models, Dodge introduced several vehicles under its brand, including the Dodge Polara, Dodge GT, and Dodge Coronado, all of which were equipped with a 3,687 cc six-cylinder engine.
In 1970, Dodge expanded its offerings with the introduction of a 5,220 cc V8 engine in the Dodge GTX Coupé. The Dodge 1500, a variant of the Hillman Avenger, was also produced starting in 1973. However, by 1977, the production of the Valiant and other larger models ceased, leaving only the Coronado, which continued to be manufactured until 1980 with its six-cylinder engine producing 147 bhp.
Following the decline of Chrysler's overseas operations, Volkswagen Argentina SA took over the production in 1980. Under Volkswagen's management, the only model produced was the Avenger, which remained in production until 1982, marking the end of Dodge's manufacturing presence in Argentina.
