De Carlo was an Argentine automobile brand that operated from 1959 to 1965. The brand was a product of Mctalmccanica Saic, a company based in Buenos Aires, which had been established in 1943. Initially, Mctalmccanica focused on the production of scooters, launching the Papenno and Superpapenno models in 1957, which saw significant success with tens of thousands manufactured.
The transition to automobile production began with the introduction of the De Carlo 600 and De Carlo 700 models, which were produced under license from BMW. The De Carlo 600 was based on the BMW 600, while the De Carlo 700 was derived from the BMW 700. Production of these vehicles commenced in 1959 and continued until 1965, during which time a total of 1,413 units of the De Carlo 600 and 9,060 units of the De Carlo 700 were produced.
In addition to its own models, Mctalmccanica also manufactured the Simca Ariane under license towards the end of 1965, producing 504 units before ceasing production of this model in early 1966. The De Carlo brand, while short-lived, contributed to the automotive landscape in Argentina during its operational years.
