Pagani Automobili has officially presented the Huayra Codalunga Speedster, an open-top evolution of the Codalunga coupé that won the Design Award at the 2023 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Developed by the Grandi Complicazioni division, the Speedster is limited to just ten units, all fully homologated for worldwide road use. Deliveries are set to begin in 2026.
Designed by Horacio Pagani as a tribute to the refined aesthetics and mechanical purity of mid-20th-century endurance racers, the Codalunga Speedster combines performance with elegant restraint. Every line and surface has been shaped to reduce visual noise and optimize aerodynamic flow. The result is a hypercar defined not by excess but by precision and simplicity.
The exterior introduces a completely new monocoque structure. The overall silhouette is longer and more tapered than any previous open-top Pagani, characterized by a seamless polycarbonate roof that, when fitted, creates an unbroken line from the windshield to the tail. The lowered windshield and side windows further accentuate the car’s slim and fluid profile. Headlamps are integrated flush into the bodywork, and the front bumper with its built-in splitter channels air with exacting precision.
Along the sides, the car avoids traditional air intakes, instead directing airflow through concealed NACA ducts under the body. The side windows, inspired by post-war prototypes, are lower and more rounded, reinforcing the Speedster’s aerodynamic intent. Doors open conventionally, in line with the car’s philosophy of essentiality. The roll bar, integrated into the rear structure, is not just functional but forms a visual connection between the exterior paint and the cabin’s central tunnel and dashboard.
At the rear, the hood is shaped to taper into an aerodynamic tail. The taillights appear to float, while the six-outlet exhaust system—comprising titanium lower pipes and ceramic-coated upper outlets—completes the rear aesthetic with a distinctive technical signature. Aerodynamic refinements were validated through CFD simulations to achieve balanced load distribution and reduced drag.
Inside, the cabin evokes the tone and craftsmanship of the 1960s, executed with modern materials and finishing techniques. Hand-hammered, hand-stitched leathers are available in a variety of custom combinations. Milled solid-metal components recall the precision of artisanal tools, offering both tactile substance and visual clarity. The steering wheel and gear knob combine carbon fiber, mahogany, and polished aluminum rivets, referencing classic racing components through a contemporary lens.
One of the interior’s defining elements is a new textile created through haute couture embroidery. Inspired by Pagani’s signature four-exhaust motif, the fabric features a dense, layered circular pattern composed of more than 450,000 stitches. Used across the seats, doors, and center console, this material introduces a tactile and visual richness unique in automotive design.
Powering the Codalunga Speedster is a 5,980 cc twin-turbocharged Pagani V12 engine, developed in collaboration with Mercedes-AMG. It delivers 864 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 1,100 Nm of torque from just 2,800 rpm. The engine is paired with a transverse 7-speed gearbox by Xtrac, available in both automated manual and traditional manual configurations. The titanium exhaust system not only minimizes weight but also produces the unmistakable Pagani sound signature.
The vehicle’s structure is based on a Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62 monocoque, providing high torsional rigidity with minimal weight. An active suspension system, constructed from forged aluminum and featuring double wishbones and variable-rate springs, adapts dynamically to driving conditions. Braking is managed by Pagani by Brembo carbon-ceramic discs: 410 mm at the front with six-piston calipers, and 390 mm at the rear with four-piston calipers. This setup ensures maximum performance and reliability under load.
The Speedster rides on monolithic Avional wheels, 20 inches in front and 21 in the rear, fitted with Pirelli Trofeo R tires sized 265/30 R20 at the front and 355/25 R21 at the rear. This combination provides confident handling, grip, and feedback in all performance settings. Top speed is electronically limited to 350 km/h.
The Huayra Codalunga Speedster is more than a limited-production hypercar. It is a statement of Pagani’s design philosophy and a benchmark of mechanical artistry. Developed by the Grandi Complicazioni division, each example is tailored in close collaboration with the client, shaped by individual vision and realized through uncompromising craftsmanship. There are no templates, no limits—only a shared commitment to build something truly unique.
