Gordon Murray T.50s Production Car Debuts at Goodwood 2026

Jun 18, 2026

Gordon Murray Automotive will return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed with a four-car display headlined by the global public dynamic debut of the first customer T.50s Niki Lauda. The track-only supercar, chassis 1, is set to run on the Goodwood Hill as part of a line-up that also includes the S1 LM design model, the Le Mans GTR XP1 prototype and a T.33 Spider validation prototype.

The appearance marks another milestone for the T.50s programme as customer cars enter the public spotlight. Chassis 1 carries a livery that honours Gordon Murray’s first Formula One victory at Kyalami in 1974. The car features South African flag-inspired graphics over a white body, together with a gloss black race number seven influenced by the Brabham BT44 that secured victory with Carlos Reutemann behind the wheel.

The T.50s is limited to 25 examples, each named to commemorate the dates of Gordon Murray’s first 24 Grand Prix victories at different circuits, alongside a special endurance racing success. Goodwood will provide the first opportunity for the public to see a customer-delivered example running dynamically.

Speaking ahead of the event, Professor Gordon Murray CBE reflected on the progress achieved since the unveiling of the T.50. He noted that, within six years, the company has designed, developed, manufactured and delivered 100 customer cars worldwide. Production of the T.50s is underway, while development of the T.33 and T.33 Spider continues ahead of production.

“In just six years since we unveiled the T.50, the team has designed, developed, manufactured and delivered 100 customer cars to owners around the world. We’ve also started building T.50s, while T.33 and T.33 Spider are well through development, ahead of production. Alongside this, we have created an even more specialised range of vehicles that explore the limits of our design and engineering philosophy – it is a privilege to develop lightweight, beautifully engineered supercars for our customers and to share them with enthusiasts.”

Alongside the T.50s, the Goodwood display will feature the European debut of the Gordon Murray S1 LM design model. First revealed in California, the S1 LM subsequently achieved a sale price of $20,630,000 at auction in Las Vegas, establishing the highest auction price achieved for a new car outside charitable sales. Its design references Gordon Murray’s Le Mans-winning race car while focusing on the company’s seven core principles, with particular emphasis on exclusivity, engineering art, lightweight construction and driving perfection.

The Goodwood Hill will also see the Le Mans GTR XP1 in action. The experimental prototype previews an ultra-exclusive production run limited to 24 cars. The model draws inspiration from Murray’s own longtail Le Mans racers as well as other endurance racing machines, combining aerodynamically driven design with both road-going capability and track-focused intent.

Completing the line-up is VP12, one of the final T.33 Spider validation prototypes. Finished in green, the car will make its first public appearance. Engineers are using the validation programme as development continues towards production. Power comes from Gordon Murray Automotive’s naturally aspirated 3.9-litre V12, with the open-top Spider configuration forming a key part of the driving experience.

Dario Franchitti highlighted the significance of seeing several V12-powered Gordon Murray models running together at Goodwood.

“Goodwood is one of the greatest events in the automotive calendar – the atmosphere, the fans and the proximity to the cars are unlike anything else. To see – and hear – multiple Gordon Murray V12 cars running up the Hill, especially the first customer T.50s, is something truly special. It’s a privilege to share these cars with such enthusiastic and knowledgeable customers and fans.”

The company’s presence at Goodwood follows last year’s celebration of six decades of design and engineering by Professor Gordon Murray. For 2026, attention shifts toward the distinctive sound of multiple V12-powered models as they tackle the famous hillclimb course from the Supercar Paddock.

Since the T.50 was unveiled in August 2020, Gordon Murray Automotive has designed, developed, manufactured and delivered 100 examples to customers around the world. The company is now delivering the 25 T.50s Niki Lauda models, while the T.33 and T.33 Spider continue through the final stages of development. The S1 LM and Le Mans GTR, announced last year, represent the latest additions to an increasingly specialised range of vehicles.
