Arden Unveils the AJ 50 V12: A 550 hp Evolution of the Jaguar E-Type

Apr 10, 2026

Arden Automobilbau has announced a limited-edition restomod project titled the Arden AJ 50 V12, based on the Jaguar E-Type Series III. The project marks the brand’s 50th anniversary and introduces a technical overhaul of the classic 12-cylinder grand tourer.

Engineering and Powertrain

The AJ 50 V12 is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V12 engine producing 550 hp. Customers can choose between carburettors or a fuel injection system. This output is managed by a ZF six-speed manual gearbox specifically calibrated for the V12's torque characteristics.

For track-specific applications, Arden offers a Group C specification engine capable of up to 700 hp, utilizing a concept previously validated at Le Mans.

Technical Revisions

The vehicle undergoes significant structural and mechanical modifications:

- Suspension and Drivetrain: Extensively revised to balance high-speed road driving with long-distance touring capabilities.

- Steering: A modified system replaces the original to provide more precise handling.

- Braking: Contemporary safety is addressed via six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers, integrated with an ABS system.

Design and Construction

While the E-Type’s original silhouette is preserved, the AJ 50 V12 features hand-crafted aluminium body panels and newly developed alloy wheels. A notable addition is the CAD-developed carbon composite hardtop, which allows the vehicle to transition between a coupé and an open-top configuration.

The interior is built to individual customer specifications. Arden estimates that each vehicle requires over 5,000 hours of hand craftsmanship. The build process involves approximately 8,000 individual parts; roughly 5,500 are replaced with new components, while the remaining 2,500 are revised or modified.

Production and Availability

Production is strictly limited to 50 units worldwide. Arden selects donor vehicles based on their history, prioritizing accident-free, "matching numbers" cars to maintain long-term value. Handovers will take place at Burg Zelem, the site of Arden's specialized production facility.

The first customer deliveries for the Arden AJ 50 V12 are scheduled to begin in early 2027.
