Devel Motors unveils production-ready Sixteen, plus one BIG surprise… Promised 5007hp and 500 km/h top speed [w/Video] - AllCarIndex
devel motors – a unique arabian manufacturer of incredible vehicles - is moving forward towards production of its mind-blowing model – the sixteen. originally announced and demonstrated in prototype form at dubai motor show 2013 the model is mostly remembered as being the first car in the world equipped with a v16 5007 hp engine. at least it is so on the dyno test.
thanks to the recently announced partnership with manifattura automobili torino - italian expert manufacturer of prototypes and limited-edition models – the devel motors looks to put finishing touches on the sixteen model very soon. you may remember that the car uses an insane 12.3-liter quad-turbo power plant made in the usa by steve morris engines (sme) who basically made engines for dragsters. however, more detailed specifications how this functions and works together with the whole car construction is still a big question. anyhow, the company looks confident about its ultimate goal to hit a top speed of 500 km/h with the sixteen.
talking about the design of the revised car it looks a lot more aerodynamic and sleek. the car lost many sharp edges in comparison with the original prototype. even more, the car no longer has a large rear wing and the whole rear end design is more subtle than before, but the most eye-catching element – two large vents - are still present. it will be interesting to find out how the aerodynamics work together to put the car towards promised 500km/h.
having set big goals for the near future, devel motors also introduced another extreme car on the dubai show floor. it is a clumsy big brother of the sixteen coupe. the new model named sixty is a gigantic 6-wheeled fortress sitting as high as 2.3 meters above the ground. it is powered by a 6.7-liter v8 700hp turbo diesel engine. it is said to be good to catapult this monstrous car from 0-60mph in just 5.8 seconds but its top speed is limited to only 150 km/h.
the devel sixty has 6-wheel drive, gull-wing doors and carbon fiber bodywork. inside it is equipped with night vision displays and has space for six passengers. all this is based on a chrome-molybdenum chassis. the car is built in the usa and has one-year warranty.
nevertheless, devel motors company gives no information neither about the price for their models nor estimated production numbers. truth is, these cars are for extraordinary people with extraordinary financial resources. we’re just curious to see if the promised outrageous performance numbers can be real. we shall see..
