Concorde

Concorde was a proposed automobile brand based in Montevideo, Uruguay, which emerged in 1965. The brand was introduced by a trio of entrepreneurs: Pedro Walter Garrido Breno, Walter Cesar Cuadra Badano, and Fernando Perdomo Avellaneda. They aimed to manufacture a compact vehicle known as the Concorde 700, which was designed to feature a 700cc two-cylinder engine.

The founders claimed that the vehicle would be produced entirely in Uruguay, with the exception of certain components such as bearings, carburettors, and spark plugs. In 1966, the company continued to promote the Concorde 700, asserting that two prototypes had been constructed and that they possessed enough parts to assemble five additional units. However, despite these announcements, no completed vehicles were ever reported, and the brand faded into obscurity shortly thereafter.

Years later, when approached for comments regarding the venture, the founders were notably reticent, contributing to the enigmatic status of the Concorde brand in the history of Uruguayan automotive manufacturing.
