Frederickson Patents Company was established in 1914 in Chicago, Illinois, as a manufacturer of cyclecars. The company was notable for its innovative approach to engine design, utilizing a unique 2-cylinder, 2-stroke engine. This engine featured a distinctive compression mechanism that occurred on the underside of the piston, employing a crosshead similar to that found in steam engines.

The cyclecar produced by Frederickson was characterized by its typical features of the era, including friction transmission and belt drive. It offered options for tandem or staggered seating arrangements, which were common in cyclecars of that time.
