Eclipse Motor Car Company was established in 1916 in Detroit, Michigan. The company aimed to produce a diverse lineup of vehicles, offering four distinct models that featured varying engine sizes. Among these were three four-cylinder models, including a 28 horsepower roadster, as well as tourers with 34 and 40 horsepower. Additionally, the company produced a more powerful 45 horsepower V8 tourer.
In its brief existence, Eclipse Motor Car Company also advertised plans to manufacture trucks, motorcycles, and motorboats. However, the extent of these operations during the company's short time in business remains unclear. The company sought agents to promote its vehicles, and a unique condition for becoming an Eclipse agent involved participating in an Eclipse course with the Detroit Correspondence Institute of Motoring, which may have been affiliated with the company itself.
