Electric Auto Corp. was an American manufacturer based in Troy, Michigan, known for developing the EAC Silver Volt, an electric vehicle project.
The Silver Volt was a four-seater station wagon powered by an electric motor paired with a continuously variable transmission. It drew energy from lead-cobalt batteries, offering a range of 63 miles and a top speed of 70 mph (113 km/h).
The vehicle also featured an on-board petrol generator, which supplied power for the air-conditioning, power steering, and power brakes, while also extending the car's overall driving range.
The Silver Volt was planned to go on sale in 1979.
