The Daniels Motor Car Company operated from 1916 to 1924 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Founded by George F. Daniels, who previously held positions as president of Oakland and vice-president of General Motors, the company focused on producing luxury automobiles characterized by their quality and heavy build. The vehicles were known for their substantial weight, with closed models nearing three tons.

Daniels cars were equipped with side-valve V8 engines, initially sourced from Herschell-Spillman until 1919, after which the company developed its own engine. The specifications included a bore and stroke of 3.6 inches by 5.7 inches, delivering a power output of 90 brake horsepower at 2,000 revolutions per minute. The brand was recognized for its distinctive 'cathedral type' radiator, which lacked a traditional badge, instead featuring a simple 'D' on the hubcaps.

The company offered high-quality coachwork, initially provided by the Keystone Vehicle Works and later by Fleetwood, both located in Reading. Daniels cars were positioned in the luxury market, with prices starting at $5,350 for open models and escalating significantly after 1920. In 1921, the peak production year, closed models ranged from $6,750 for a town brougham to $7,800 for a 'California' limousine.

In 1924, the Daniels Motor Car Company was acquired by the Levenc Motor Company of Philadelphia, which specialized in parts and service for discontinued makes. Although Levenc announced plans to continue production, it primarily completed existing vehicles from leftover parts. The few cars produced during this period were sold at increased prices, but they suffered from construction issues, marking a disappointing conclusion to the legacy of the Daniels automobile.
