Contemporary Classic Motor Car Co. was an American automobile manufacturer based in Mamaroneck, New York, that operated from approximately 1979 to 1995. Founded by Peter Bayer, who had a background in owning and racing authentic Cobra vehicles, the company specialized in producing high-quality kit car replicas of the iconic Shelby Cobra.
The company gained recognition for its meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, utilizing Jaguar XKF suspension systems for both the front and rear of its vehicles. In 1986, Contemporary Classic expanded its offerings by introducing a replica of the Cobra Daytona Coupe, which was built on the same Jaguar-based frame as their Cobra replicas.
By 1994, the company further diversified its product line with the introduction of the Contemporary GT Roadster, a replica of the Ferrari 250 California Spyder. This model featured a stretched version of the frame used in their previous designs, showcasing the company's commitment to innovation and adaptation within the kit car market.
