Century was an American automobile brand that operated from 1912 to 1915, primarily based in Detroit, Michigan. The company initially operated as the Century Electric Motor Car Company before transitioning to the Century Manufacturing Company in 1914.
The brand was notable for its electric vehicles, which featured an underslung frame, setting them apart from other electric cars of the time. In 1912, Century introduced a roadster model, while the majority of its offerings consisted of brougham bodies. The vehicles utilized a tiller for steering and provided customers with the option of solid or pneumatic tires.
Century's electric cars were equipped with a speed controller that allowed for six different speeds, and they were powered by a series-wound Westinghouse motor that was directly geared to the rear axle. Despite its innovative designs, Century ceased operations in 1915, marking the end of its brief presence in the automotive industry.
