Butler Racing was an American automotive manufacturer based in Goleta, California, operational from 1982 until 1997. The company was founded by Ron Butler, who had previously worked at Shelby American during the era of racing the iconic Cobra models. His experience in the automotive industry laid the groundwork for his subsequent ventures.
After the closure of Arntz, a manufacturer known for its kit cars, Butler acquired the production jigs and molds from the company. He resumed production of the Arntz kit car, making only minor modifications to the original design. This decision allowed Butler Racing to capitalize on the existing market for kit cars, which appealed to automotive enthusiasts looking for customizable vehicles.
In 1998, Butler Racing transitioned ownership when Ron Butler sold the project to G&S Motorsports. This marked the end of Butler Racing's independent operations, but the legacy of its kit cars continued under the new management.
