Adams was an early American automobile manufacturer founded by Myron D. Adams in Lansingburgh, New York, during the late 19th century. The company is notable for its pioneering efforts in the automotive industry, with its origins tracing back to 1899 when Adams constructed his first automobile. At that time, he was primarily engaged in bicycle repair and the sale of gramophones.
In September 1899, Myron Adams received special police permission to operate his vehicle on the streets of Troy, New York. This event is significant as it is believed to represent one of the first registrations of a motor car in the state of New York. In 1900, he built a second vehicle equipped with a 2-cylinder engine and advertised replicas for sale in local publications. However, there appears to have been little commercial interest in his automobiles, and he continued to use the car he built for approximately ten years.
Despite the lack of widespread success, Adams' efforts contributed to the early development of the automotive industry in the United States, marking a notable chapter in the history of American car manufacturing.
