Founded in 1913, the company ventured into the automotive sector by developing a prototype cyclecar. This vehicle was powered by a 7 horsepower V-twin JAP engine and featured a three-speed gearbox, with power transmitted via a chain drive.

One notable aspect of the Cripps cyclecar was its unique starting mechanism, which was operated by pulling a chain located on the dashboard.
