The initial models featured conventional tiller steering and were powered by 250cc single-cylinder Villiers engines, equipped with 3-speed gearboxes. One notable model was the Barrett Model 41, introduced in 1949, which catered to users weighing up to 20 stone and living in hilly areas.

In the mid-1950s, Barrett expanded its offerings with the Model 58 Barrett Minor, which featured a fully-enclosed fibreglass coupé body designed for smaller individuals with limited arm reach.
