Ascari Cars Ltd is a British manufacturer of high-performance sports cars, founded in the late 1990s and based in Blandford Forum, Dorset. The company was established by Dutch entrepreneur Klaas Zwart, who aimed to create a brand that combined luxury with racing pedigree. The name "Ascari" pays homage to the legendary Italian racing driver Alberto Ascari.
One of the notable models produced by Ascari is the Ascari FGT, designed by Lee Noble. This high-performance coupe was intended for both luxury road use and competitive racing. A prototype of the FGT competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing third in its class. The prototype featured a centrally-mounted, modified Chevrolet Corvette V8 engine, producing significant power. The production version of the FGT was equipped with a 4.6-litre BMW V8 engine, generating 350 bhp, with options for a Hartge-tuned 4.7-litre V8 producing 400 bhp and a less powerful 300 bhp variant.
Another significant model is the Ascari Ecosse, which was noted for its lightweight construction, weighing only 1,250 kg. The Ecosse was capable of exceeding 200 mph (320 km/h) and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) in just 4.1 seconds. The vehicle featured a race-derived independent suspension system with double wishbones and co-axial springs, along with a steel tube space frame chassis that included a full roll cage and was covered in a fiberglass coupe body. By 1998, only ten units of the Ecosse had been completed, highlighting the exclusivity of Ascari's offerings.
