Maximag

SWITZERLAND

time-calendar.png 1922-1928

Motosacoche of Geneva was the leading motorcycle manufacturer of Switzerland, when they decided to enter car production.
At the Paris Automobile Show of 1922, the 5hp Maximag super cyclecar was shown for the first time. It had a conventional side-valve 4-cylinder engine of 1093cc with a combined pressure/splash lubrication and thermo-syphon cooling. Power was transmitted via multiple-plate disc, 3-speed gearbox and shaft drive to the rear wheels.
On the early models brakes were on the rear wheels but soon 4-wheel brakes were fitted. Body styles included various 2 and 4-seater bodies. Production ended in 1928, after approximately 200 cars had been built, and Motosacoche returned to the manufacture of complete motorcycles and engines for other manufacturers.
