Bikini

Bikini was a small Italian manufacturer known for producing an unusual beach-oriented utility vehicle during the era when such compact leisure cars gained popularity along the Mediterranean coast. The car was built around a simple tubular steel frame, over which lightweight fiberglass body panels were fitted, giving the vehicle a minimalist and functional appearance suited to its intended use as a lightweight runabout for coastal resorts.

The design emphasized openness and simplicity, as the car lacked doors and instead relied on a large windscreen that could be folded flat against the body. Distinctive round, protruding headlamps gave the car a recognizable face, while the four-seat layout made it practical for short family outings or beach transport despite its minimal construction.

Mechanically, the Bikini drew on established components from other manufacturers to keep costs low and reliability high. Power came from a Fiat 500 Giardiniera engine mounted at the front, driving the front wheels, while the suspension system was adapted from the Mini, providing a compact and cost-effective solution for a vehicle of this type.

As with many small-scale beach car manufacturers of its time, Bikini occupied a niche within the automotive market, producing vehicles intended more for leisure and utility than for everyday road use.
