Autowerke Salzgitter was a German automotive manufacturer active from 1949 to 1951, based in Salzgitter, Germany. The company primarily focused on refurbishing Jeep vehicles and adapting them with station wagon bodies.
One of the notable endeavors of Autowerke Salzgitter was the development of a unique 2-stroke, 4-cylinder radial diesel engine, designed by engineer Ludwig Elsbett. This innovative engine was tested on a station wagon prototype, although only a limited number of these prototypes were produced during the company's brief existence.
Despite its short operational period, Autowerke Salzgitter contributed to the post-war automotive landscape in Germany through its specialized vehicle modifications and engine development.
