Generale de Mecanique et de Thermique, commonly known as GMT, was a French automobile manufacturer based in Wingles, Nord-Pas de Calais. The company operated from 1980 to 1983 and specialized in the production of microcars.
The flagship model produced by GMT was the Rivelaine, which was initially equipped with a 47cc Sachs engine and featured an automatic transmission. Later versions of the Rivelaine were upgraded to a 49cc Motobecane engine. This four-wheeled, two-seater microcar was characterized by its long sloping tail and included the convenience of winding windows, which added a touch of comfort to its compact design.
Despite its brief existence, GMT contributed to the microcar segment during a time when such vehicles were gaining popularity for their economical and practical use in urban environments.
