Droz-Grey

FRANCE

time-calendar.png 1945-1945

Mr. Droz-Grey of Frambouhans (Doubs) presented a cyclecar project featuring tube bodywork with plywood cardboard panels, offering waterproofing. This unique design boasted two steering front wheels and a single rear-wheel drive, powered by a 5 HP engine. Accommodating two seats in a tandem layout, the driver sat prominently forward, enjoying a narrow, low-slung, and streamlined profile, providing exceptional visibility in all directions.

Key dimensions included a body length of 2.90 meters from the tip to the rear wheel axle, wheel spacing of 1.30 meters outer edge to outer edge, and a wheel diameter of 0.60 meters. The body width varied from 0.75 meters at the base to 0.55 meters at the top, with a total height ranging from 1.20 meters at the front to 1.30 meters at the back, measured from the ground line. The cart weighed approximately 140 kg without the engine.

Noteworthy features included two patented devices: the frame and steering system. The interior layout revealed a welded or brazed tube construction, with the engine support components omitted from the plan. The patented longitudinal frame design simplified bodywork assembly, eliminating the need for a separate chassis as the longitudinal members fulfilled this role. With robust tube arrangements ensuring structural integrity, the design minimized the risk of breakage or resonance-induced vibrations.
