Clauzet was a French automotive manufacturer based in Reims, active from 1956 to 1959. The company specialized in creating custom bodywork for existing automobile chassis, particularly the Citroën 2CV.
In 1956, Clauzet made its initial foray into automotive design by presenting a classically-styled coupé body intended for the Citroën 2CV chassis. This marked the beginning of the brand's efforts to rebody the popular economy car.
The company gained further attention at the 1959 Paris Salon, where it unveiled a four-seater coupé that utilized the Citroën 2CV engine. This model featured a metal body with a distinctive Plexiglass panel integrated into the roof, although it received mixed reviews for its aesthetic appeal.
Despite its brief existence, Clauzet's attempts at rebodying the Citroën 2CV contributed to the diverse landscape of automotive design in mid-20th century France. The brand ceased operations shortly after its last presentation, leaving behind a limited but notable legacy in the realm of custom automotive bodies.
