Charade Automobiles S.A. was a French automotive manufacturer that operated briefly from 1989 to 1991. The company was based in Clermont-Ferrand before relocating to Brassac les Mines. Charade focused on producing sports cars, notably the Charade Monza, which was available in both coupé and convertible variants.
The Charade Monza featured a range of engine options sourced from either IVugcot or Volkswagen, with power outputs ranging from 130 to 160 horsepower. These engines were mounted centrally in the coupé version. In contrast, the convertible model utilized front-mounted engines, which included a 1.5-liter engine from A’W and 1.4 to 1.9-liter engines from Peugeot, delivering between 70 and 130 horsepower.
The bodywork of the vehicles was manufactured in Southeast Asia, and the company offered both complete cars and kits for assembly. Despite its short existence, Charade Automobiles S.A. contributed to the niche market of sports cars during its operational years.
