Country: France

Automobiles Carteret was a French automobile manufacturer established in 1922 in Courbevoie, Seine. The company was founded by Louis Vienne, who had previously been involved in the production of the OCTO vehicle. The Carteret brand was known for producing a compact and aesthetically pleasing cyclecar, which was powered by a 904 cc Ruby four-cylinder engine.

The Carteret featured a unique transmission system that utilized a friction mechanism with conical faces. This design allowed for direct engagement in top gear; however, it was based on patents by Domecq-Cazeaux and proved to be fragile and unreliable. As a result, this transmission system negatively impacted the sales of the Carteret, despite the vehicle being well-equipped and reasonably priced.

In addition to the standard model, Automobiles Carteret planned to offer a sports variant that would feature a more powerful engine and a streamlined body. However, it is uncertain whether this sports model was ever produced. The company ultimately faced challenges that limited its success in the competitive automotive market of the time.
