Brand Data

Company Name: Ste des Automobiles Eugene Brillie

Place: Le Havre

Country: France

Eugène Brillié established the Société des Automobiles Eugène Brillie in 1904, following his previous partnership with Gustave Gobron in the manufacture of Gobron-Brillie vehicles from 1898 to 1903. Although the company was based in Paris, all vehicles were produced by the Schneider armaments and engineering firm located in Le Havre, France.

Brillié's focus was primarily on commercial vehicles, particularly trucks and buses, and the company gained recognition as the first supplier of motor buses to the city of Paris. In 1904, the company introduced two models of passenger cars: the 20/24hp Type G and the 35/45hp Type H. The Type H model notably shared its engine with the Paris buses, featuring an inlet-over-exhaust engine layout, four-speed gearboxes, and shaft drive.

Despite its initial success, the Brillié company faced financial difficulties and went into liquidation in February 1908, ceasing the production of cars. However, Schneider continued to manufacture buses under their own name after the closure of Brillié.
