Automobiles Boitel was a French automobile manufacturer based in Paris, operational from 1946 to 1949. The company specialized in producing minicars, a segment that gained attention in the post-World War II era due to the demand for affordable and compact vehicles.
The first model introduced by Boitel featured a 400cc two-cylinder two-stroke engine, which was positioned behind the driver but ahead of the rear axle. This layout became popular in racing and sports cars in the late 1950s. In 1948, the company showcased a restyled version of its minicar at the Paris Salon, which included updates such as the transition from wire wheels to disc wheels and an upgraded engine. The new engine was a 589cc two-cylinder two-stroke unit sourced from DKW, which increased the vehicle's top speed from 47 mph (75 km/h) to 56 mph (90 km/h). Despite these enhancements, the sales of Boitel vehicles remained minimal, leading to the company's eventual decline.
