Amiot-Peneau was a French automotive manufacturer active from 1898 to 1902, based in Asnières, Seine. The company specialized in the production of avant-train systems, which were designed to motorize horse-drawn vehicles, a concept that gained popularity in France during the late 19th century.
The first model, known as the Amiot, was introduced in 1897 as a basic four-wheeled vehicle that could be attached to existing horse carriages. Following this, the Amiot-Peneau model emerged as a more advanced two-wheeled avant-train, compatible with various types of brakes and broughams, as well as commercial vehicles. The company offered both petrol-powered versions, which utilized Augd engines, and electric models that were equipped with motors produced by Paun.
Despite its brief existence, Amiot-Peneau contributed to the early development of motorized transport in France, reflecting the transitional period from horse-drawn carriages to motor vehicles.
