Excelsior was a Belgian automobile manufacturer that operated from 1903 to 1932. The company was initially established as Compagnie Nationale Excelsior in Brussels. It underwent several changes in ownership and structure throughout its existence, reflecting the evolving landscape of the automotive industry in Belgium.
From 1907 to 1909, the company was known as A. de Conincket Compagnie, continuing its operations in Brussels and Liège. In 1909, it rebranded as SA des Automobiles Excelsior, relocating to Saventhem, where it remained until 1929. During this period, Excelsior produced a range of vehicles, contributing to the early automotive scene in Belgium.
In 1929, the company transitioned to SA des Automobiles Imperia-Excelsior, maintaining its base in Saventhem and expanding to Nessonvaux-les-Liège. Despite its efforts to adapt and grow, Excelsior ceased operations in 1932, marking the end of its production of automobiles. The brand's legacy is a reflection of the early 20th-century automotive innovation in Belgium.
