Egan Motor Body Works was an Australian automotive manufacturer based in Geelong, Victoria. Established in 1916, the company initially focused on motor bodybuilding and gained recognition for its work in constructing commercial bodies for Ford when the latter established its car factory in Geelong.
In 1935, Will Egan showcased his own car at the Melbourne Motor Show. This vehicle featured a unique combination of American components integrated into a frame designed and fabricated by Egan himself. It was powered by a 6-cylinder Lycoming engine that produced 80 brake horsepower. The car utilized Columbia axles, Ross cam and lever steering, and Bendix hydraulic brakes. Additionally, several local products were incorporated, including springs, dampers, and the radiator.
Despite the innovative features, including an aluminum high-compression cylinder head that contributed to its performance, the vehicle's riding qualities fell short compared to contemporary models that offered independent suspension systems. Egan Motor Body Works operated for a brief period from 1935 to 1936 before ceasing production.
