The Coyote X is a custom-built car that gained fame on the TV show Hardcastle and McCormick. It was designed using molds based on the McLaren M6GT, with parts like the nose, windshield, and doors closely mirroring the original McLaren. The rear deck, however, was a custom addition, and the car also featured unique design elements like modified wheel wells and a one-piece front clip.

Initially, the Coyote X used a Volkswagen Beetle chassis and a Porsche 914 engine. For later seasons, a different version based on a DeLorean was introduced to accommodate the lead actor. The original Coyote X "Hero" car is now privately owned, while other stunt versions were repurposed for other shows, such as Knight Rider 2000.
