Toyota - Project Go

RECORD NUMBER OF NEW TOYOTAS AT SYDNEY MOTOR SHOW

Toyota will display its largest ever range of all-new vehicles and concept cars at the 2002 Sydney Motor Show from October 17-27.

Key models in the much-heralded new four-cylinder and V6 Camry range - Sportivo, Azura, Altise and Ateva - spearhead Toyota’s new model line-up.

Toyota will also showcase its 2003 model LandCruiser 100 series, which it will launch a week before the show.

Six as yet unseen concept and show cars will also make their Australian debut at the Sydney Motor Show.

A Formula One-inspired Toyota MR2 Street Affair concept car will spearhead the Toyota concept car display.

The striking turbocharged MR2 from Toyota Motorsport in Germany was designed by the same team engineering Toyota’s historic assault on the Formula One world championship.

The MR2’s body is constructed from fibre-glass and carbon-fibre panels with multiple air scoops.

Its doors hinge skywards to provide access to the snug two-seater interior.

The Street Affair produces 193kW and covers 0-100km/h in six seconds.

Toyota will also unveil its spectacular RSC (Rugged Sports Coupe) 4x4 concept vehicle at the Sydney Motor Show.

The RSC combines a sporty two-plus-two car body with four-wheel drive hardware and styling cues that result in a fresh variation on rugged-vehicle thinking.

The fuselage body design combines muscular wheel flares with edgy mechanical forms that communicate a tough-as-nails durability.

Other show vehicles from Toyota include the Fujitsu Ten Corolla fitted with an award-winning car audio system.

The Corolla’s sound source is the Eclipse CD8061 CD tuner, which took out the 2002 Sound and Image magazine award for car audio head unit of the year.

The unit includes 16 volt balanced line outputs and feeds five 620-watt 33240 two-channel Eclipse power amplifiers.

A turbo-kitted Echo and a Panasonic Racing Camry will round out the big Toyota display.

The Toyota display at Darling Harbour’s Sydney Exhibition Centre will also feature a surprise show car to gauge its viability as a road-going model.
